Our Community Garden

Our Community Garden

Our Community Garden

The Food Pantry invites people to celebrate, learn and grow fresh food in our Community Garden.

Each member gardener is assigned a garden plot where they can grow:

  • Fruit
  • Vegetables
  • Herbs
  • Flowers

Gardeners also benefit from:

  • Workshops
  • Other gardeners who want to share their knowledge
  • Tool shed

In 2025, 24 gardeners participated in The Link Community Garden. Several additional plots are reserved for Pantry use - these plots are planted, weeded, watered and harvested by student volunteers and our Lead Garden Volunteer. Last year, more than 200 lbs of fresh produced was harvested for the Pantry

Good Food Collective

Our Community Garden

The Good Food Collective is a collaboration between the Georgina Food Pantry, Community Living Georgina and Routes Connecting Communities.

The Collective helps us get good food to Georgina residents in a more social, community-building way!

Through the Good Food Collective, we bring people together each Wednesday at The Link for our weekly pay-what-you-can community lunches. Twice a month, the Georgina Fresh Food Market joins us with a pop-up market during the lunch.

In 2025, more than 10,000 meals were served!

Information Sharing

Our Community Garden

Information Sharing

When our neighbours come in for emergency food, we take the opportunity to share information about additional supports in the community that can help in other areas of their lives. This can include:

  • Employment Supports
  • Health Services
  • Financial Assistance
  • ID Clinics
  • Legal Assistance
  • Family Services

Representatives from other local service providers are often available on-site during our service hours to share the details of their agencies' programs with clients while they wait to shop at the Pantry.  It’s a terrific opportunity for Pantry visitors to learn more about different services available in Georgina, to ask questions, and to book appointments.

The Pantry also provides print and digital resources, to ensure that our clients have all the information they need to make the best decisions for themselves.
