The Food Pantry invites people to celebrate fresh food and it starts in the Community Garden:
And we go gleaning too...
Participants visit nearby farms to glean the fields of excess crops. A portion of the harvest goes to the Food Pantry and the rest is for the participants to share with their family and friends.
Both community kitchen workshops and community lunches (every Wednesday at The Link) are the result of a collaboration between Routes, Community Living, and The Food Pantry. Over 3,000 meals were served at the Wednesday lunches in 2022.
In keeping with the theme of fresh food, the program also encourages people to expand their culinary skills in the kitchen. Community kitchen participants help prepare healthy, in-season dishes in a supportive and friendly atmosphere.
In 2022, 85 people participated in 12 cooking workshops.
These workshops are open to all.
And the best part is sitting down to enjoy the dishes everyone helps to prepare.
