Keswick Community Fridge

NOW OPEN

Location: Georgina Ice Palace (Main Entrance), 90 Wexford Drive

Fridge Hours of Operation: Donations and food access will be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

About the fridge

Spearheading this initiative is Ashley Mutch, a seasoned social services professional, and the unofficially titled "Community Fridge Liaison." Ashley was inspired by the success of the Newmarket Community Fridge and recognized the need for such a resource in Keswick, as there are very limited meal programs in the area.

The Town of Georgina enthusiastically offered to support the initiative by providing the space. The Georgina Community Food Pantry (GCFP) also eagerly joined forces, creating a formidable partnership to address the escalating issue of food insecurity in the community.

What sets this initiative apart is its inclusivity. Anyone can contribute to the fridge 24/7, fostering a sense of unity and shared responsibility. The Georgina Community Food Pantry (along with staff and volunteers) play a crucial role in the ongoing management of the fridge, overseeing sign-ups, volunteer management, and coordinating food donations.

The grand opening of the Keswick Community Fridge marks a pivotal moment in the community's journey toward solidarity and support. As the fridge becomes a beacon of hope, the GCFP invites everyone to participate, to give what they can, and to be a part of this unique endeavor that is making a meaningful impact on the lives of neighbors in need.
