Important Message from Our Operations Manager & Board Chair

You may have seen or heard a recent CBC story regarding allegations of financial mismanagement at Feed Scarborough. The Georgina Community Food Pantry wants to assure our supporters that our Board, staff and volunteers remain committed to supporting people facing food insecurity in our community with care and accountability.

We understand the concerns the article has raised and encourage all members of the public to make informed decisions by accessing publicly available information when choosing charities to support.

The Pantry has strong financial controls in place to manage money properly and report on how it is used. These standards not only protect donors, but also the organization itself and the communities we serve. As a Good Food Organization and a member in good standing with Food Banks Canada and Feed Ontario, the Pantry is held to a high level of expectation and adherence to Food Banks Canada’s National Standards of Excellence and the Ethical Food Banking Code. You can learn more about those here:

Should you have questions or concerns in light of this recent article, please don’t hesitate to call or email our Operations Manager at kathryn@georginafoodpantry.com or 905.596.0557.

With Gratitude ~
